Trial By Water. Waterproof Bible Review

waterproof bible review with website

Looking at the above picture would have made me cringe immediately if I hadn’t known that it was okay to pour water on my Bible!

I couldn’t do this to just ANY Bible, though.

It takes the special Waterproof Bible from Bardin  & Marsee Publishers.

The Waterproof Bible is 100% waterproof inside AND out.

Its not that I didn’t believe the claim that it’s 100% waterproof, but I did have to see it to totally believe it.

The moment that my ESV (English Standard Version) Waterproof Bible came in the mail, the kids wanted to handle it, soak it, dry it and soak it again.

I was happy to oblige! We were all amazed.
My husband, Brian even joined in to see what the commotion was about.

A few highlights about the Waterproof Bible:

  • 100% waterproof inside and out
  • Durable synthetic pages (which feel amazing, by the way!)
  • Stain resistant
  • Clear text
  • You can write and underline in it and it wont bleed through
  • Available in other versions; NIV, KJV, NLT, NKJV, NASB
  • 8 pt. font

My practical use:
I usually carry a tote bag full of goodies; my Bible, 2 print books that I’m currently reading, my Kindle, notebook, and pens.

There was one evening that our youngest son had football practice and I was armed with my usual tote bag arsenal. I’m glad that I’d switched out my regular study Bible for the Waterproof Bible.

The grass at the practice field had just been cut and the swarming gnats were stirred up. They landed on everything!

Before I got sick and tired of the infestation, I decided to put the Waterproof Bible to the test.
Yes…I smashed a gnat on the Bible and wiped it right off (sorry I didn’t get a photo. I couldn’t stick around long enough).

I posted on Facebook that I’d received the Waterproof Bible and had run it through several tests. A friend from Church told me that she just had to see it. When I pulled the Bible out of the tote bag that Sunday morning, a handful of friends gathered around.

I felt like a kid in school during show and tell!

What I liked about the Waterproof Bible:

  • It’s totally cool
  • The feel of the pages. The pages are thick, and there is no fear of tearing or ripping them.
  • It doesn’t take too long to dry (but don’t put it back in your tote bag before it’s dry.)
  • The size (not too bulky, but beefy enough to feel that I’m carrying my Sword)
  • Cover design

A couple things that I watched for:

Although it didn’t take too long for the Bible to dry, I was trying to figure out ways to “help it along”. The best way was to leave the Bible open on a towel.
Whenever I squeezed the wet Bible, the water gathered at the edge of the pages. One of my first thoughts was, what if it doesn’t dry out completely?

Will it smell funky? Will it mold or mildew?
Thankfully, neither of those things happened!
