Test

Whenever I’ve taken a test in school, the teacher would start with, “read all of the instructions carefully”.

In a haste to complete the test first, I would sometimes come to a screeching halt because something got jumbled up.
Sure enough, it was a result of not reading the instructions before I got started.

All of the pain of starting over could’ve been avoided it I’d just slowed down.

It’s okay to slow down; especially with life’s tests.
Oh. We’ll have them. Its up to us to read the instructions before going headlong into them.

A few instructions are:

  • To Trust Him. Isaiah 26:3: He will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts You.
  • To have peace. John 14:27  Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
  • To be pure in heart. Psalm 139:23-24 Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my anxieties; and see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
  • To keep your joy and persevere. James 1:2-4 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

We do fail or fall short at times, but God is always there to restore us. He’s always willing with a do-over. He’s loving, gracious, and merciful like that.
So, don’t back down from going forward. Every test is a wonderful opportunity to grow more into the fullness of who you are.
No matter what, move on with courage. You have a test to pass!
