“Rest well!” is something that I tell my children every night!
I want them to have sweet dreams and wake up refreshed the next morning.
I feel that my nightly send off will aid in that some how.
It wasn’t until I saw a photo of a dear friend that chose rest for the remainder of her evening at home that the phrase, “rest well” took on a new meaning.
Resting well isn’t just a physical act or way of being; its also about the spiritual and emotional.
Even when I take my Sabbath day of rest, it doesn’t necessarily mean that I’m resting well.
It usually only means that my physical labor has stopped.
Its time for me to take it a step farther, to rest well in communing with my Abba.
Rest Well
There is an unrest in our world today. But I have determined that by God’s grace,
to STAY in His rest and REMAIN true to the calling He’s placed in my life.
Resting well gives space for God to direct me through whatever is needed.
It makes me know that striving must cease if I’m going to see the magnificence of God!
When it seems like the hands and mind should be working, God beckons me:
Sit down, daughter. Hear what I have to say about that!
“So they went away by themselves in a boat to a solitary place.”
Mark 6:32 (NIV)
Just the thought of that solitary rest makes me want to go there!
What are some things that you do to make sure you can REST WELL?
