Receiving Wisdom to Improve

Pursuing What Is Excellent -- Receiving Wisdom to Improve

Improvement should be desirable.
What usually isn’t desirable is someone else telling us where we need to improve.

I know! I’ve been there!

But, let’s look at several verses about wise counsel and instruction (this is your cue to grab the Bible, journal, and pen)
*Prov. 19:20-21
*Prov. 4:13
*Prov. 24:6
*Prov. 27:6
*Colossians 3:23
*Titus 2:3-5
*James 1:19
*John 3:21

*Hebrews 12:11

We aren’t here to live life just wandering along. If we’re in any relationship, community, or position, improvement is always a good thing.

There are others around us that see things in us that we can’t see.
They have a keen eye to see our strengths and weaknesses. If they care for us, they want what’s best for us.

Whenever the opportunity arises for someone to speak into our lives, before letting offense rise up, let’s take a moment to weigh it.
Write it down to come back to. Pray and ask God to reveal the what and the how.

The very one that pointed it out could be the one to help us improve, or they may not be.
We have the knowledge now and can do something about it.

We may be tempted to “self-improve”, but even at that we may fall short.

Walk alongside someone that’s going in the direction that you want to go.

Pursuing What Is Excellent -- Walking direction

Get wisdom! Get understanding! Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth. Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you; love her, and she will keep you. Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore, get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding. Exalt her, and she will promote you; she will bring you honor, when you embrace her. She will place on your head an ornament of grace; a crown of glory she will deliver to you. – Proverbs 4:5-9

Let’s talk:
Are there times that you received correction that ultimately led to you seeing a chance to improve?
