Practicing the Rest of Peace

You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.
Trust in the Lord forever, for in YAH, the Lord, is everlasting strength.
Isaiah 26:3-4

I’m a fierce protector of my peace!
That position was evident one very eventful Wednesday afternoon!

As Brian and I were driving through Atlanta to meet with his parents to pick our sons up, we rolled up on the immediate aftermath of a horrific accident involving a father, young daughter, and another young man.
The images of a pickup truck lodged tightly under a semi tractor trailer are engraved in my memory.
Brian and I pulled over to see if we could be of some assistance. And goodness, what came next was something I wasn’t expecting, yet, prepared for.

Just moments before this, Brian and I had just finished listening to a preaching message on getting in peace and not letting fear take root in our hearts and minds.
It’s that perfect, supernatural peace of God that can only come from abiding in Him.

what we possess in spirit

The message of that day wasn’t only meant for me, but also for the father, young man, and also the precious little girl that was pulled from the wreckage.

All I could remember was the peace in the chaos; being able to minister, through the power and might of the Holy Spirit, to the little girl that was placed in my arms until medics arrived.

There truly is peace that passes all of our little understanding that comes after being anxious for nothing and bringing EVERY prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving in request to God. (Philippians 4:6-7).

What we posses in spirit isn’t only for our benefit and comfort, but is to be transferred to others around us that need it!

Thankfully family and friends of the little girl reached out to us to keep us updated on her condition.
I learned that her name is Ashleigha (ash-lay-ah) and she’s 7 years old.
She was in and out of stability due to head trauma and other issues, but I’m SO HAPPY to report that one week later, to the day, she is awake and thriving!
She still has checkpoints that need to be met, but progress is sure!

I ask as a personal plea to stay in faith with us and praise God for her complete restoration in the days to come!

Also, the father sustained injuries, but will make a full recovery. The young man that was traveling with them suffered a few bruises, and was released shortly after going to the hospital.

This is all cause for rejoicing! Thank You, Lord for the preparation for peace; that we were able to be ministers of peace during a situation that could’ve been tragic!

Perfect peace. Shalom, Shalom.
It’s the ultimate in peace because it comes from a place of trusting God.

There may be times when it looks and feels like we can’t walk in the peace of trusting God, but it doesn’t mean we can’t.
That’s when it’s time to walk and talk by faith.

The greater One is in us and can take on the burdens, fear, and discouragement in our lives.

How do I enter into the rest of peace?

Join me at Rachael Carman’s Rooted Devotional as I share four ways how I practice peace!

*as an added bonus to the four ways, here’s a fifth way, listening to preaching messages on the subject of peace!
If you’re interested, here’s the LINK (The Place of Rest) to the message that Brian and I were listening to on that day!
