Keep Looking

I have to admit that my attention span isn’t long; especially when it comes to watching a youtube video that one of my oldest boys have playing. The content is usually race cars, basketball, dangerous stunts, basketball, star wars and did I mention basketball.?.
They catch me zoning out or turning back to what I was doing before the video is over. Thus, they rewind back to any part that I missed; sometimes more than once.
Just a few moments ago, my 9 y/o son asked me to look at a video of remote control trucks. I had just set forth determination to pay attention to the WHOLE thing. As soon as he clicked “play” he turned to me and said “Keep looking.” To his amazement, I was still looking. I actually watched the whole thing.

This exchange led me to think about my relationship with my LORD. When I’m expecting Him to move for me and my family, do I “keep looking”? It can be so easy sometimes to take my eyes off of His promise of provision and try to do things on my own.

I am reminded of Proverbs 4:20-23 that says
v.20 My son, give attention to my words; incline your ear to my sayings.

v21 Do not let them depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart;

v22 For they are life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh.

v23 Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.

Just as my son asked me to keep looking, God has asked me to keep looking or as Proverbs 4:20 states; give attention, to what is in front of me.
What has been asked of me to focus on is wisdom, God’s wisdom; learning more about His word and what it has to say concerning every aspect of my life.

Keep looking! Keep looking to God for wisdom, understanding, grace, mercy, salvation (being saved in various trials), faithfulness, abundance, and blessings. This list could go on and on and it still wouldn’t touch on everything that God wants me to keep looking to Him for.
