Get Your Hope Up

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
For by it the men of old gained approval.

Hebrews 11:1-2

Not all hope is created equal.

I’ve used a phrase or two that sounded like,
“Oh, I hope that _____ happens.” or “It would be nice.”

Those phrases are wishful thinking, not true faith in action.
Bible hope should look like belief, not a wish.

That way of thinking was brought to light when something that I thought was a good idea to implement (wishful hope) needed to have some belief (Bible hope) put on it to see it come to pass.

Hope is expectancy. It’s what helps me in standing in faith.

Have you seen your child have that hopeful expectancy?
They know without a doubt that what they’ve asked for is coming because you told them it would.
They also know that you’re a trustworthy parent.

That’s the way that I always want to be when it comes to my relationship with Abba Father.

Hopeful expectancy. Standing in faith. Belief without doubting.

Sometimes when I’d have hopeful expectancy about something I’ve requested, I’d hear a naysayer whisper, “Now, don’t get your hopes up, sweetheart.”
But as I thought about that statement, I asked, “Why not get my hopes up? Am I not expecting what I’ve requested?”

The Bible does say in Hebrews 11:1, Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

I think I’ll keep my hopes up, thank you.

Our family chooses to live with our hope up.
We hold on to it in tandem with faith; trusting that God will absolutely do as He promises. Our part is to keep standing in faith, not doubting, not wavering.

Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He inaugurated for us through the veil, that is, His flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having out hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who has promised is faithful.

If you’ve given up, Is it the fear of failure that’s stopping you from hoping?
Perhaps you have gotten your hopes up and someone let you down.

Will you allow me to encourage you to hope again?
Take a step in trusting GOD! Put your hope in Him. Seek Him for the truth of the hope that should be stirring in you.
