BOLDNESS…I need more of it!

Ok…when it comes to most things I’m a wimp. I mean; most things confrontational or would cause others discomfort…or discomfort for me.
Earlier today I did a status update on Face Book, “Does it affect a Christian married man’s testimony if he frequents Hooters?” I knew immediately that I would get ALL KINDS of responses to that. No one was rude at all but I didn’t want it to get to that point. The range of responses were, To each his own but that’s not for us, to Never in a million years will my husband or I step foot in that place.
clip_image002One thing that I commented was that most people would never hear anything out of me until it comes to something that I’m passionate about.
The family is what I’m passionate about. I know that I have a whole lot of growing to do, but because I am passionate, learning/growing is easy.
My thoughts (because it’s my blog…Ahem…My Site, My Right. Thank you):
This establishment and others like it are a blatant blast and attack on the family. It’s one of satan’s tools with the guise of good buffalo wings (so I’ve heard). The moment a person walks in all kinds of forces are let loose. Guards are let down and thoughts start to ensue.
So, what got me on this tantrum? Seeing someone that I know go into the place. I started ranting and raving with my daughter! There is absolutely no need for a man that is a Christian to even step foot into a Godless place like that. Chicken wings can be purchased anywhere! I don’t care if everybody in the office decides to go there for lunch, a Christian should purpose to be set apart (sanctified) from those tempters.
Too many have gotten away from what God’s Word has to say about wisdom and not getting entangled with the ways of the world. I’ve found just the foundational passage that speaks directly to that. It would be very lengthy for me to type every verse but the reference is Proverbs 5:1-23 …the whole thing.
What I’m not saying: I’m not saying that going into those places automatically means that a man cheats on his wife. What I am saying is that it opens the door for all kinds of sin.

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world – the lust or the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life – is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever. 1 John 2:15-17

This is where my need for boldness comes in. I chickened out and deleted the status. There were other women that whole-heartedly supported my view and had awesome things to say, and there the comments went…gone forever.
Lord, I like the part in Your Word that says “The righteous are bold as a lion.” in Proverbs 28:1. As I learn more of Your Word, grant me wisdom, understanding and discernment for when to speak up. I don’t want the lack of my actions to hinder someone else learning Your truth. In Your Name I pray. AMEN!
