HomeWork: Juggling Home, Work and School without Losing (Book Review)

I have read an excellent Ebook published by The Old Schoolhouse Magazine.

HomeWork: Juggling Home, Work and School Without Losing digs into what it’s really like to work from home; either as a wife/mother’s sole business, a family business or being a business owner with her husband; as well as balancing the home and education of her children.

There are women who have written their family’s story in several categories, which include:

  • A Labor of Love
  • Computer Based
  • Creative Writing
  • Business Support
  • Tricks of the Trade

With our family being a homeschool family and self-employed, I can relate to several stories of totally trusting God and living by faith for Him to provide day by day.

This book has renewed a passion in me to work from home as a writer, as I believe God has gifted me to do. One thing that is touched on, and greatly encouraged me, is that it is okay to pursue a dream or passion in different seasons of life. Sometimes the greatest reward comes from waiting for a different time instead of pushing through with something that isn’t supposed to happen yet.
There are times when it seems that God lays every opportunity in your lap and says, “Now what are you going to do with what I’ve given you?”

The women have written well about involving their children in business. That in itself is a magnificent education!
There is even advice about keeping the finances organized, and keeping priorities in order.

I’m very glad that I read this book. It’s given me new insight into the different aspects of home, work and school. If you’re considering working from home or if you already are and need fresh ideas, this book would be my first recommendation to you!
