Fear is NOT Normal!

Comical looking turtle, but a serious subject matter.
Our church is doing a “Sharing Your Faith” type of focus at the moment. That’s not my beef. We, as Christ followers are to share our faith.
We have handouts with blanks to fill in. The very first one totally turned me off for the rest of the sermon.
*”Understand that fear is normal.”
I (nor my family) do not subscribe to that statement. Why does God’s Word continually say “Fear Not” if fear is a normal part of life?
If fear is normal, why do we try to overcome our fear?
Does fear creep in? Yes. It does though because the guard is let down and the Word has departed from our remembrance. That is then the time to recommit to remembering what God’s Word says about fear and cast it out.

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7

Amen girl!!!! One of my favorite verses is Isaiah 41:13 “For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you; Do not fear, I will help you.” We used it when my daughter had to have a major surgery at the age of 8. It was not only a comfort to us, but to her also. We only held her left hand when she was hurting because we told her God had to hold the right one. =) We do not fear in our house. My Lord is with me always and I have no reason to fear anyone or anything. Now… put in a situation where ‘normal’ people may fear I may become a tad nervous but it’s then that I stop and pray and He reminds me that everything will work for the good as He sees fit. (even those ‘nervous’ days seem to be few and far between anymore) ♥ I love your spirit! ♥

I understand what you’re saying, but I do think fear is a normal emotion that is given to us by God when we sense danger.

I know what you’re saying though, b/c I know when I’m “Walking in the Spirit” my fears totally subside and I have more of a calm and peace.

That turtle is so cute and so is the writing.
