Pursuing What Is Excellent -- Conversations with the Father

“Secret place” is often heard when speaking of spending intimate time with God.
A favorite Scripture about being, or dwelling, in the secret place is Psalm 91:1.
We’re there because we trust Him to sustain, protect, fulfill His covenant promises, and to Father (Abba) us.

It’s a time of totally shutting out the world, and the things that grab for our time, attention, and affection.
It’s when we’re most intentionally still and our soul is quieted.

That secret place time could include praying, extended times of fasting, journaling and reading the Bible.
We ask God to reveal things to us, to give us knowledge about what’s going on in our lives.
We ask Him for direction and clarification.
We ask Him to move on behalf of others during a time of intercession.
We give Him our worship, praise and adoration.

These are conversations with the Father.

A life full of conversations - Kris Dillard

Your life should be full of references from
conversations you have had with the Father.

After secret place times like that with the Father, let us soak in what He sings over us!
As we read from the Scripture below, wherever “he” pronouns appear, insert your name. Drink that in as the Father’s love and compassion toward you.

Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name.
He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.
With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation.

Psalm 91:14-16

How often do you reference conversations that you’ve had with the Father?
Has it been a minute or was it just this morning?
Share with me of a conversation that most sticks out to you.

Living to Worship Him,

  • Kela, I really love your insight of sharing conversations we’ve had with the Father. He is such a friend to us! Visiting today from Grace and Truth. Blessings!

    • Leslie, thank you so much for taking the time to comment here! <3 He's a friend in deed and to let that reality sink in is overwhelming!
      Blessings to you!!

  • Kela,
This morning I was praying for a friend and felt the Lord encouraging me to send her a scripture but I wasn’t sure which scripture to send. Then I read your post and clicked on the link for Psalm 91. I knew that was the perfect scripture for her and Abba really spoke to me in these verses:
3He Himself will deliver you from the hunter’s net,d
    from the destructive plague.
    4He will cover you with His feathers;
you will take refuge under His wings.e
His faithfulness will be a protective shield.f
Thank for sharing. Praying God’s anointing on you for writing would increase and the power of His love would be evident in all you do.

    • Oh Sherry, your friend is so blessed to receive your faithful prayers. I’m thankful that you were led to Psalm 91 right when it was needed!
In v. 3, “God Himself will…” is such a powerful force to have backing us up!!
I receive that prayer over my writing (my soul cries out in joy and anticipation with reading that!)!!
Love to you, Sherry!! You’ve blessed me!

Kela- I find these times when I walk around the perimeter of my land. It’s just God and I. Today I was getting crabby over the slow internet, and I felt a prompting to leave it and go take a walk. I came back refreshed and renewed.
