Celebration and Changes

It’s been a minute, hasn’t it?! I’ve spent a lot of time away from my blog.
There has been a time of celebration and contemplation going on!

The Celebration:

1) Brian and I are going to be Grandparents!
Pops and Momma K, to be exact!

Aubrey and our son-in-love, Ben, are expecting!

We are all beyond excited about this little blessing coming into our lives!
God is showing His favor and love on them.

Becoming a grandparent is such an honor that I don’t want to take lightly.

I’m understanding what the term “next-level parenting” is all about. I desire for Ben and Aubrey to parent their child(ren) at the next level; to do better than their parents did (and I think we’ve all done a pretty good job).

“You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.” Deuteronomy 6:5-9 (NKJV; emphasis mine)

To God be the glory in all things!!

2) We are debt free!
That is a freeing feeling, but I don’t think that I can appreciate or understand the fullness of it like my husband can. It’s awesome to hear him continually praise God for provision; not only in getting our needs met, but in overflow.

We have to be mindful to walk in simple faith. Simple faith can get a little complex when we look unto ourselves as the source and getting things done “our way”.

“Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” Matthew 6:30-33 (NKJV)

Trust me. God’s ways are best.

The Changes:

There are many great things to do and be a part of. God has awesomely graced me with being able to write for a few ministries and home educating sites. When each one has such goodness to offer, why wouldn’t I want to write, write and write?

Then came the pruning.
I couldn’t do it all, but I put off on letting them go.

Two of those were shut down. *snip*

One of them, I just knew that I didn’t “have it” to contribute. My life was at a steady lull and I had no freshness to offer. *snip*

Another one….God just wasn’t leading me there anymore. *snip*

A couple more. I just couldn’t bring myself to write reviews in this season. *snip*

I was/am experiencing John 15:2, “Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.”

I’m more than okay with that. No need for me to throw a fit when I have the beauty of that full verse! Something is gonna bear more fruit!
I write about faith, marriage, family and home education here at Pursuing What Is Excellent, but one “external” place remains.

The M.O.M. Initiative.
The heartbeat of that ministry is where my heart beats also.

Motherhood is something that can be tough. Not only are we rearing our children, but we, as women, deal with so much more than just changing wet diapers, wiping noses, drying crying eyes, development, youth stuff (like the hormones and changes).

We have to deal with ourselves!
Who we are, where we belong…or where we want to belong, comparison, our hurts, anger, friendships, etc.
We need to know that we’re not going through this alone.

The M.O.M. Initiative
’s mission is to come along-side mothers in Biblical mentorship with Titus 2 as our backbone.

I look forward to bringing you more Momma K updates, what God is doing in our lives, how He’s guiding us to educate our children, and marriage enrichment posts (Oh, if you missed my latest post at Jolene Engle’s blog, The Alabaster Jar, you can read it now, His Wife First).
