Equilibrium: Daily Dwelling With God

equilibrium
I was challenged by a friend to write about balancing Spiritual time, holding it down as a wife, household duties and being a mother.

I’ll tackle these one-by-one:

Spiritual time: I’ll call it Daily Dwelling With God. I’ve found lately that the first thing that I shouldn’t do in the morning is have any screen time (computer or phone). That idle time has greatly and negatively affected my meditating on God’s Word; not giving Him my best.

It helps me to have a daily devotional by my side. This gives definition to my time with God.
Do you know how much God looks forward to watching you pour your heart, your life out over His love letter to you?

Dear one, God’s Word, the Holy Bible really isn’t something to take lightly. Our dwelling with Him is a life or death matter to our souls. Flippantly digging in is called being lukewarm. We know what He says about that in Revelation 3:15-16

I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of my mouth.”

Hey, I’m guilty of being that way. Just this morning I confessed to my husband that when I read my Bible the morning before it was just words to me. I didn’t let the Holy Scripture penetrate my heart.

Why is that? I have a clue; information overload, caught up in everything else around me, deadlines, frustration with not having anything to write for eons, thinking about our country’s future, meeting the educational needs of our children.

Guess who can REALLY help me with all of that! God!
I’d inadvertently shut Him out.

In my brain exhaustion, I had to take a nap. Right before I did, I took the advice of a friend and jotted down the things that were on my mind. It helped me to get it down on paper. I was able to rest easy, rejuvenate and invited God to speak to my heart.

May I suggest you taking a break? What keeps you from being still and shutting out the noise? Is “first-thing-when-I-rise-screen-time” making you lose your footing?

For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen. I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. An do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Romans 11:36-12:2
I don’t know what your time with God will look like, nor do I know what He’ll reveal to you. One thing I can promise is that you wont know either until you take the time to just do it. Girl, you know you want to!
